A school has 500 students; 320 of them are boys. A survey has to be conducted on a sample of 25 students representing each of the two genders according to their real number’s size. Find the number of students from each gender representing the segment in the sample.

### Example

A school has 500 students; 320 of them are boys. A survey has to be conducted on a sample of 25 students representing each of the two genders according to their real number’s size. Find the number of students from each gender representing the segment in the sample.

### Solution

There is a total of 500 students and we want a total sample size of 25 students.

To calculate the number of boys in the sample, we use the following formula:

So, the number of boys in the sample is 16. This calculation was for a sample of 25 students. So, the remaining students in the sample are girls.

There are 16 boys and 9 girls in the sample.
