### Example

A survey has been conducted among 100 students on their favorite sports and the result was as follows:

Favorite Sport Number of Students Football Handball Athletics Tennis Basketball 8 21 6 35 30

Determine the predicted number of students who practice basketball if the number of students is 200.

### Solution

Step 1: Use the survey to find the probability that a student practises basketball.

Divide the number of students in the survey who practise basketball (30) by the total number of students in the survey (100).

Step 2: Find the predicted number of students out of 200 who practise basketball.

Multiple the number of students (200) by the probability that a student practises basketball (0.3).
