### Example

Three persons are comparing the distances that they have travelled in one month; Ahmed has travelled a distance of km, Hany has travelled a distance of km, and John has travelled a distance of km. Determine which one of them has travelled the longest distance, and find out the sum of the distances that have been travelled all together.

### Solution

Step 1: Determine which person travelled the longest distance.

Compare the thousands.

Since 4 thousands > 3 thousands > 2 thousands, then . Ahmed travelled the longest distance.

Step 2: Add to find the sum of the distances.
